Default (help)ENGINE WILL NOT START

driving the other day, when engine quit. I costed into the driveway. My first thought was that the timing belt broke.. Well when i got to my timeing belt, it wasn't broke, it was missing about half of the teeth. SO got new belt on and 99 % sure engine was at TDC. Tried to start before putting everything back together(pulleys,belts,etc..) So we turned the key and the engine just cranked..
We stuck a piece of hard plastic tubing in the #1 cylinder and marked when the cylinder was at the top and the marks were lined up at tdc. I am totally lost now. Please help.... I hope it is something simple,,it usually is.

There is no difference if the belt breaks of looses teeth. It results in engine damage (the valves get bent by the pistons. Check pressure in the cylinders, and you will know.
