So I ordered up the OBD interface from eBay and downloaded the light vag-com but still can't read or clear codes. Any one can help ?

 

are you getting errors when you try to connect?

I'm guessing you got the usb interface? Have you made sure that VCDS (the software) is configured for usb? You need a usb driver, and you need to set up the software for usb in options.

 

Yeah I have the Ebay cable. I set up so it reads the right COM port, When I test it in VAG-COM it says OK and everything, just when I click on Engine under modual it says unable to connect.

Yeah. I might just get a reg. OBD2 scanner. This VAG-COM is a Pain in the *** lol.

 

No, if anything get a better cable. For Audi, Vagcom is FAR superior to a scantool. I had the shareware version and that was good. Now I have the unlocked version and it's unbelievable how much you can do with it.

 

Where is the best place to get the unlocked version? Also, can it program new keys? I thought I read somewhere that Vagcom is used to program keys, but I can't find where I read that. I only have one key and need a few more, but the nearest place that will do the programming is 2 hours away.
