I'm getting desperate with my start up problem.
I've searched for weeks and asked plenty of people, but without any luck.
With the engine cold, I try starting it, it starts up and dies immediately. I try it again, and it starts up without any problems. This happens after every cold start, first try it dies, second try it starts up fine.
I was told maybe camshaft position sensor, but I'm also being told I would get a CEL if the camshaft position sensor failed, but I have none.
I drive a 2001 a4 1.8tqm.
help?

Thats a pretty vague problem with several issues that could be the cause. You're better off taking it to someone who knows what to check for. If you replace everything we can think of, you'll probably end up spending more money and still not have fixed the problem. I doubt it has to do with spark. If it was me, I would check out the fuel supply, and intake. Do you have any faults at all? I know your CEL isn't on, but it can still store faults without turning the light on.
