Default Installing a 21" Plate..

I just bought a 21" German plate for my 1998 A6. I bought a license plate holder, but I don't really have any idea how to install it. From the pictures I've seen, it goes inbetween the air intakes and the grille, but do I have to drill holes in the front or what? There is no indent where the plate is supposed to go, also. I am not very mechanically inclined, as you can probably tell, but I would really like to mount it. Can anyone with experience help?

I bought an Altec mounting screws package for the plate too.

A nice piece of $2.99 industrial strength velcro works very nicely. It came with 2 pieces, so I stuck 1 on each end of the frame, about 4" from the end. It looks really nice and should be weatherproof.

For anyone who cares...

For a really flush look - use industrial 3M double sided foam tape. Don't use the plate holder - just put the tape on the plate and stick it inside the indent. It will look very slick!

I don't if I would trust my plate to some industrial double stick tape. I know that stuff is strong as hell cuz I've had to take it off before, but wouldn't the weathering and deterioration outside be enough to wear through it after a while? Don't get me wrong, I really want it to work cuz it'll save my bumper from holes, I just don't know if it can stand up to time. Any thoughts?

No matter. It'll still look a lot cleaner than the US plate. You actually have an advantage with no indent cuz you can entirely remove the plate without leaving the bumper lookin like it's missin something!

Yeah, I was never really worried about the weight as an issue. I just don't wanna have to worry about the tape deteriorating cuz of rain wearing it down then the sun and wind drying it out, eventually leading to the loss of my plate on the highway after a few months. I'm not saying it won't work, cuz lord knows that tape is stickier than hell, I just haven't ever put it on anything that lives outdoors. Ya know what I mean?
