Keep it or sell it?
We have a 2000 A6 2.7t, automatic w/ about 206k on the odo. Looks like its time to replace the turbos and the tranny needs to be topped up every 8 months or so... no leaks, no sign of where it's disappearing too, but when it starts slipping, topping up solves the problem. At this point it's easy to write this rascal off for some but, being as we're not exactly a bank, new ones go for close to $60k; used ones... well, we're buying into the unknown and what the hey, it's strictly for commuting... 15 miles each way and then it's in a parking garage [at work]. Seems to me that for about $5k I can get rebuilt turbos and tranny installed but the mechanics say "quit throwing money at this one... let it go." It's easy to agree w/ that sentiment but with cars costing what you might get a townhouse for, do you pitch the townhouse every time the fridge breaks?
All of the suspension bits, brakes etc. have been replaced over the last few years and it looks like new on the inside... not so bad on the outside either. I'd enjoy hearing a sanity check... thanks! Peter (peterbbell@gmail.com)
