I just bought an 1999 A4 1.8T a little over a month ago. I burned the fuel gage down to EMPTY. It is my guess that I was getting ready to run out of gas, (I was seeing what mileage you can get out of a tank...[;-)

Anyway, the MIL light came on not too long after. I took it to Autozone and got following codes.

P1250-Fuel Air Metering

PO116-
Engine Coolant Temp Range Perf


P1136-
Fuel Air Metering Code


When I first got the car, the coolant sensor light came on. I took it to the dealer, they reset it and said nothing was wrong. Now I am wondering why the coolant temp range perf code popped up and if this is just a conciedence, since the engine was probably running hot due to the fuel pump working over time, the pressure being off, causing the catylitic converter to get hot, causing the emmissions/mil to come on since the fuel mixture was also off.

The car seems to run great. The light is still on and it does not blink.

 

Reset the codes and check the fluid levels. Don't run the gas tank low.
