Not sure what to do about cloudy hood
Hey,
My hood recently acquired a white cloudy look to it. I am not sure why or how this happened. I have washed it 3 times, waxed it twice and nothing has changed.
Does anyone know what this could be and how to fix it?
Thanks.

It almost looks like the clear coat was damged somehow. Could also be hardwater stains thou. I would try a light polish. However this may be something best left to a professional as polish can damage the paint if used improperly.

hey whats up. My brother and i own a detailing business and i have a Black 97 b5 2.8. the marks on your hod are probably oxidation from water or just from weathering. Ardex detailing products make a wax called seal b. for black cars. take a High Speed buffer pad, use that to apply the wax, to the hood and to the rest of the car if you want, make sure you dont stay in one spot for too long with the buffer cause you could burn your paint. buff it off with a soft cloth, spray it down with spay wax, and let it shine! Funny with the cloud pics. I know exactly what it is. its hard water etching that has burned into the clear coat. try taking it to a detail shop (or do it yourself) and buff it out. it will probably only lighten up depending on the depth of the damage to the clear coat. so you may just be better off having it resprayed.
