STFA!!!
This is asked by about every noob. Search "CHIP". MBC are pointless, they don't add X amount of fuel for the X amount of boost you would be running so you will run lean and soon blow an engine because you didn't wann for out the extra dough for a chip.

thanks for your response i will be upgrading my fuel managment as well but i was wondering how much boost the stock turbo is capable of. getting a chip is not a problem i just prefer to not run high boost all the time so a boost controller (dual stage turbo xs) is what i have. i'm reflashing my ecu as well but before i dropped the extra cash i wanted to see if it was worth it

Well running some type of chip and having an MBC to override the chip is sometimes good, gets rid of boost spikes and flatens it out. The down fall to it which it seems like you are planning to is lowering the boost when the chip is tunned for ~1.1 bar, so you are getting alot of extra fuel because the boost is turned down but the ecu is still thinking you are getting 1.1 bar of boost. In other words you will run rich, which is better than lean but too rich can cause problems too. If you are looking to have something with different boost levels look into APR's porgrams.
As far as a safe boost amount most chips run 1.1 bar which is ~17psi which is a safe boost amount considering you you allow for proper warm up and cool down of the turbo. There are plenty of people out there with over 40k chipped miles on the stock turbo. Sure you can run more boost but considering the k03 cant hold 17 past 5k its kinda pointless.
