In short, My power steering rack is busted and has damaged the pump. Dealer says this is a $2800.00 job. Funny thing is I have had no actual symptoms other than a whine when my fluid was low. I was having to top off the fluid (which is usually foamy and low when I open it up) every 3 weeks or so when the problem recurred. No other symptoms though. My steering is working fine.

I am skeptical on diagnosis. I thought maybe they were going to tell me I needed new clamps or a new hose or something.

What is your opinion?
