I had to replace the whole HUB assembly on my car......no the question is the hub that's on my car now is actually from a junkyard, and I am curious I know the hub should be able to spin around somewhat freely.......but if you grab it by the edge and move the hub front to back is there supposed to be some room for play until the axle is put into place and tightened up? Or should the hub not be able to move front and back slightly like it is? I mean about an 1/8 of an inch play........somebody please gimme their opinion thanks

 

Sounds like the bearing is shot, if you're talking about grabbing the actual wheel-mounting section and moving it relative to the the rest of the spindle/housing.
