Ruff Idle 04/S4 CEL need help
Just bought 04/S4 and the CEL came on. I have had the car for 1000 miles and when the CEL came on the car started to idle ruff. Something isn't right. Anyone have the same problem. Car has 49k on it.

With some luck it could be a bad spark plug (cross your fingers for that) But it could also be a number of things like, Ignition coil, the wiring going to the coils, fuel injector (although quite unlikely !!) or maybe the ignition controll modual (I had that problem with my a4).
You can do some simple trouble shooting yourself, If the problem is a missfire in one cylinder you can unhook the wires going to each seperate coil and listen for a change in the sound of the engine. If you hear an obvious change in engine sound or speed in every trial except one you have found the cylinder that is not firing.
Next: switch spark plugs around and repeat stepts above, if the missfire follows the spark plug you have a pad plug
Also try with coils
And wire harness's
