A1 sportback, 2 years old, UK

I've noticed a slight misfire at around 1300-1400 rpm and wondered if anyone else had found similar. Notes:

• It only occurs occasionally
• It's generally during gentle 'acceleration' - i.e. to maintain speed up a gentle gradient
• First noticed in 6th @ 40 mph but does occur in 5th & 4th in the same rev range
• Pressing accelerator further and it disappears - but TBH it's not there that long in any case

It's just had its first service - and the garage simply advised to change down a gear! (It'll happily drive smoothly down to 1000 rpm without prompting a downchange) (but much less than that and it pretty quickly loses the plot!)

Your thoughts would be appreciated, thanks.

Sounds like a classic case of a glazed spark plug. Put a new set of plugs in it. See my post about a glazed spark plug here. https://www.audiforums.com/forum/gen...k-plug-218806/

I fought this battle a few years ago and pulled my frikkin hair out, spending a lot of money.

 

I asked the garage if they'd change the plugs with the first service. I get the impression they didn't - but haven't driven the thing since it was serviced so don't know if it still has the issue.
