squeeking question
i just bought a 98 a4 2.8 quattro w/about 100k miles on it and i noticed a fairly quiet squeeking once in a while...i think it's the brakes, but i'm not that sure since it's not constantly there, it comes and goes...half the time it's there, half the time it's not...one thing i do know for sure is that when it's there and i hit the brakes it stops, even if i barely tap the brakes, but once i let go it might come back...and the brakes look like they're pretty new pads...i'd say it's definitely the brakes, but the fact that it's not always there makes me unsure...any help would be GREAT
also, i noticed some seemingly old dried up oil on the driver's side of the motor, about as high up as the middle of the radiator/ac fan..i'm just wondering if perhaps there's an oil leak (i dont think there is currently since the oil doesnt look fresh) but i'm wondering if there are many others with this issue also...
thanks in advance for the help guys!

RE: squeeking question
I'm really not much of an expert so I can't give the exact answer to your question. I usually drop by at Auto Parts Information in case I encounter car repair problems. Hope It can also help you.

RE: squeeking question
If it squeeks only sometimes.. and more in the hot weather .. this could be the answer to your question ......
It is common most Audi's produced in 98 & 99. The squeeking is actually coming from the suspension arms.
Audi realized this problem in 2000 and started to change to a different rubber structure.
Cars within the warranty, and gone less than, i Think 120,000 Km, Audi will fix free of charge, after this they will pay for the parts but you must pay for the labour !!
Live with the problem... or it can be expensive to change all the parts! It will cause no harm to the car !
