Default thinking of getting an A4

Hey all, newbie here.....i am thinking about getting an audi A4. i have searched on a bunch of forums and could not find anything on my question. so here it is.....I have been looking at the A4's preferably 2000-2001. I notice that between these two years the 2001 has more horses...170 hp whereas the 2000 has 150. Prices on a 2001 are pretty much even from about 18g's-20g's. The 2000 models are a little bit cheaper ranging from 15-17g's. Ok, back to my question, what is the main reason for the different hp...the chasis are the same...but is the difference in hp due to the ecu? or is the engine bigger....etc? Cuz if it is mainly due to the ecu being programmed different, I plan on changing the chip anyways....so if its just a chip thing, i will probably want to shell out less money and get a 2000 and just change the chip. But if there are other factors that come into play with the 2001 model, then i would get that and then chip it. hope you guys understand what i mean. Thanks for the help.

yeah try to be more specific... your obviously talkin about the 1.8t engine the only difference is in the software/chip and the 2001 might be DBW but im not sure when they went to that setup anyways it doesnt really matter which one you but if your gonna chip it...

sorry, yeah i am talking about the 1.8T.......i was just wondering why there was a 20 hp difference btw the 2000 and the 2001 model. Is it just due to the programming of the stock chip? Cuz if thats the case since I plan on changing the chip anyways, then it shouldnt matter which year i get 96-2001 right?
