I just broke down yesterday in my 2004 A4. I heard tapping noises and pulled over within 10-15 seconds. Turned off the engine. In a few minutes it started but would not turn over. It just turned 100k miles. I'm concerned that it's the timing belt and if it is - does this mean that there is valve damage? In other words - is there ALWAYS valve damage when the timing belt breaks while driving? I don't thin I'm ready for this. Thanks
