Whining on deceleration (why)

Default Whining on deceleration (why)

Noticed on deceleration in cold weather my 97 A4 1.8t makes on whining sound.... Does anyone know why

turbo noise??? how many miles? what kind of trans?

the car has 170km so about 120 miles it is more of a high pitched whistle about when the turbo would blow-off. Manual trans.

Maybe a bad diverter valve.

A diverter valve is the valve that releases excess turbo pressure back into your engine to be re-used. It is like a blow-off valve.
