white smoke from dashboard vents
Hi-
I just joined and was hoping to get some help with my problem. I have a 93 audi 100s (not the quattro) and recently I've had white smoke coming out of all the dashboard vents. It is intermittenbut hasalways happened in the morning whenI first start up the car. The AC is turned off and I have the heater **** turned about 3/4 of the way. The blower is turned to the 3rd setting with the air set to come out of the middle of the dash and sides (not floor or top of dash).
I turned the car on and then I start to smell the smoke which is like an electric fire (almost as if plasitc is burning)...within seconds white smoke comes out of the vents. Minutes later and a slight high from the smoke, it clears up and everything is fine. I check everything it all works and continue to drive.
It's now happend 3 times over 2 1/2 months...I'm a little concerned.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Itay

I would check the fans resistor block. Sometimes they overheat. It may be causing something nearby to burn. In anycase pull the lower panel to access the blower motor and inspect the motor and resistor for damage.
