there was actually a test done on some acura's on a dyno and it did prove that there was faster throttle response in short distances, once the engine is hot though you're losing hp, get worse mpg's, and throttle response is placebo.. it's just a louder intake during acceleration..

I ran my acura like that for a couple weeks for the fun of it because i live less than a mile city driving from work. they run really cold too for a long time.. small 4cyl engine.

Maybe but i would think not. They usually make cold air intake systems for a reason. haven't priced them on the audi but older cars i've had in the past they were pretty affordable (>150 in most cases).

So I bought a k&n filter, and tunneled the air from the wheel well to the air box and noticed a good difference, plus before I had the k&n and air tunnel the engine would sounds like it was bogging out at 3000 rpm about where the Turbo hits, but now everything's smooth and I saved about 300 dollars

Longrod take some pics of your setup. Just curious as to how it looks. Also there use to be a guy who would make a heatshield that does a fairly good job of keeping temps down from the turbo heat. but i dont think he does it anymore. Though it dosent look to hard to fab one up. food for thought. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ue-Heat-Shield!!!!!
