Twopedalwarrior - A6 Avant Build Thread
#12
So back for a long time update.
- Tossed the A8, tranny died, but fun to drive for when I had it
Still driving the 2001 A6 Avant 2.8l. And some updates and thoughts since I've had it for over 4 years. Since it is a rebuild we bought for 3k CDN, it doesn't really owe us much let alone a resale value where we could consider driving it into the ground
Current Mileage - 155450 Miles, Bought with 122,000 Miles
What have we replaced
- Radiator (Last Year)
- Alternator (Last Year)
- Top end gasket rebuild (3 Years Ago)
- Van lines all redone (3 Years ago)
- Breather hoses (2 Years ago and being replaced again)
- Brake Fluid Reservoir (Two years ago)
- Coolant Expansion tank (Two Years ago)
- Coolant hoses (Last Year)
- Battery (3 Years Ago)
- Coil pack, wires/plugs (2 Years Ago)
- O2 Sensor (Six Months ago)
- Timing Belt was done on it @ 119,000 Miles, with brakes, rotors, and full front bushings replaced.
Two full tranny flushes every 2 years, Regular Oil /Filter Changes
Currently running 87 Octane (Canada) gas for over a year and the car runs great. We do lots of in town driving so 91 isn't a big deal till we hit the highway for long trips
We bought this as a write off for 3000 CDN and has always driven well. Tranny still shifts very smooth and no change in its behaviour since we got it.
Next year, brakes/rotors, Suspension front/rear.
So all in all, very happy with it. Hope some of you still enjoy yours
