Default Buying a Quattro

So my wife and I have recently decided to buy an Audi, we are both in love with AWD cars (she has a Subaru) and it is time to get a second car. We decided on Audi as I love sporty cars and she is wanting to be "more sophisticated" than say a WRX or an Evo. I am mainly looking at the A4, S4 and TT. As far as modifying these, which one seems to have the best aftermarket and performs the best? I see the S4's are the performance model but the newer models are NA V8's rather than having a turbo. Would I be better off to stick with a TT or an A4 and toy with them for the turbo reasons or should I go with the S4 because it is the "Sport" model? I am probably purchasing in january so I have plenty of time.

well the first question i have for you is, is this going to be a new car? After that what do you really mean by moding (for Huge power you want something turo'd) if this isn't going to be a huge power project then the new S4 might be in your area (good power, very nice looks, and a little engine aftermarket that can net some gains). Also do you need 4 doors because if you do then that knocks out the TT as a choice. If it were me and I was buying a new Audi, then I would probably either go with a 2.0T A4 or the S4. the TT is just to small of a car for my liking and needs but that is me.

If you want an older car, then get a b5 S4 (the one with bi-turbo's) and do a turbo swap so you can put down 400AWHP and decimate STi's all day long

Oh yeah, welcome to the forums.

And another idea, if you want to wait for the B8 S4, which is supposed to be turbo'd again.

I was trying to look at newer cars but still used. Originally the older S4's you mentioned were off the list due to their age but it is hard to ignore their power output and what you can do with them. I am not trying to build anything crazy, not necessarily my daily driver but something I can still drive on the streets to the next SCCA event. I have really started to like the TT's, something about their look. Typically I am looking at 04 and newer cars thought.

Also, I love your pic, I am in the USAF (guard) and recently back from Iraq, that pic is awesome.

s4 will be a LOT more money. it costs more, parts cost more, insurance and gas is higher, labor takes twice as long as it should, but it puts out more power and the powerband is completely different than any a4 or tt. there is no replacement for displacement

a4 will be cheaper, but put out crappy power stock. once chipped it is more respectable, but if you want any real power your gona want to upgrade the turbo. 1.8T's and 2.0T's can be modded, 2.8 and 3.0 can pretty much only be supercharged.

TT would be a fun little car, great modability, good price, and more power than the a4. the 225 is quick right out the box, and modded they put down respectable numbers. but its small and only 2 door. the new ones are sexy as hell and that would be my number 1 choice hands down
