My name is Korey, I live in North Carolina, And Im looking to buy a 1998 Audi A4 1.8T Manual. its got 190k on it, which is kinda high. What is the general life expectancy of the engine's/transmission's in that car? i will most likely wind up re-building it anyway. Are there any other major problems i need to look for before i buy the car? It looks to be in good condition, just needs the clearcoat buffed really good. and has 18" audi wheels on it already. Just want to get a heads up whether or not its a good buy or not.

 

Hi and welcome That car's longevity will depend on the care it has had up to now. It shouldve had it's 3rd timing service done at 180k so you will want to be sure it was done or plan on that immediately. The price of the car is also going to determine if it is worth getting.
