Possibly getting - 01 A4 1.8TQM
Hoping to trade my Civic DX ricer in for a nice 01 A4 1.8TQM.. can't beat the price, heck monthly payments will be lower than what I'm paying on my stupid Civic. The car looks to be in great condition and I have read all the "newbie faqs" on the A4 forum and stuff, but I am still trying to figure out some info on the car. Here's what I do know.
2001 A4 1.8T Quattro Sedan 5-speed Manual - 98k miles
Black Exterior / Tan leather interior / Sunroof
From what I have read, I am thinking it has the Sports Package (it has 17" RS4 rims and the 3 spoke steering wheel - not sure about the red shocks) and it might also have the Premium Package (has the "Home link" buttons on the drivers sun visor) and the Bose stereo system. I couldn't figure out if it had the Xenon headlights or not. I snuck over to the dealership and took some photos of it. Hopefully you smart people here can help me out with some of the finer details and stuff I should look out for.
They are currently in the process of going through the car and fixing anything that needs to be done (they are checking timing belt, water pump, the weather seal around the windshield is coming off so they are replacing the whole windshield, brakes/routers, etc).. the car idles extremely smooth... haven't gotten a chance to test drive it yet, because of them having it in the shop. They warranty all their vehicles, and they are extremely great to deal with, so I am hopeful.

Yeah, I am going to make sure they do a bunch of stuff to it before I say yes to buy it. The reason I said RS4 rims was because I read a few places on here and other audi forums that there were a couple different versions of the "Sports Package" - the standard sports package comes with 16" 9 spoke rims, and then there were the 17" RS4 rims, and these are 17" so I figured they were the RS4s.. my bad.
As far as price, they priced it at $2k less than KBB expected value.. so, that's why I jumped on it. They posted it on their site saturday, I was there Monday on my lunch break looking at it.. They hadn't even had the chance to get it in their detail shop to clean it - it was vacuumed, shampooed, leather cleaner, washed, and hand waxed. Once they were done doing that I was back there again looking at it.. looked much better!
When I went back to look at it, I noticed a couple issues with the driver side door. For some reason when you try to unlock it, it doesn't always work, and when you try to open it, sometimes it sticks (like the handle isn't engaging) and from the inside, the door handle doesn't go all they way back to the correct position (it kind of dangles there a little loose).. any idea what that could be from?

The car looks very clean and if they're taking care of the major maintanance (timing belt, ect.) at $2k under kbb it makes the deal seem even better. Hope everything works out for you and you can drive home a clean B5. Welcome to AF!
Thanks! They are replacing the windsheild monday, so they won't put it in the shop till after that, so they won't have it ready till middle of next week... which sucks, but I am glad they are doing all the work to it.
I am just so ready to get rid of my Civic (02 DX with 20% tint all around, magnaflow cat-back, AEM SRI, and had but not installed DC 4-1 header and Random Tech high flow cat).. Looking at the Audi's I can't figure out why I went to a Civic, and why I tried "tuning" a little 100hp Civic (DX at that, so no VTECH). [:'(] I guess it did it's job for what I needed (a cheap, reliable, great gas mileage car that would get be back and forth from my job (50 miles one way for 2 1/2 years).)

Well, I got to test drive it today, and it drove extremely smooth. I am new to Manual transmission (only drove my dad's ford ranger and my brothers ford escort once each), so the car drove smooth, my shifting might have been something to work on!
The door still isn't fixed.. The handle is a little loose on the inside, and the key fob doesn't lock/unlock the driver side door (all others work fine), but the key works fine if I unlock/lock the door through the key hole. To i3udda, it's not a certified car, not even through an "audi" dealer, it is through a used car dealership that just happens to specialize in european cars (mostly bmw, vw, m-b, and audi's on the lot, with a few subaru's, hyandai's etc in the mix). I guess they put it in the shop before they did the windsheild so I guess the mechanic looked through it and everything seemed to check out okay. I asked when the tb/wp was replaced and he said he would try and get that info for me. I mentioned the lock/unlock problem and they sales rep wasn't sure, said "It could be the battery in the key fob" and said that he won't do anything about it cause for $150 for a blank key from audi + $$ for cutting + $$ for programming the price of the car just doesn't cover that kind of stuff. (remember $2k under kbb) I figure I can just take the door apart when it gets nicer out (or I find a garage to use) and check the actuator and speaker at the same time.
I sat in the car playing with every switch and button and everything trying to make sure it's all good, and the only other issues I could find were the buttons were a little "sticky" as in you push it in, sometimes it doesn't pop right back out.. could be a buildup of finger grease or something easy to clean(?) and the front driverside speaker is really crackly.
I put in a finance app to see what they could get me, and am waiting to hear back from them about it. He said that if it all goes through okay that I could be driving away tomorrow with an Audi.
