Default thinking about buying an audi

Hello all, first post here.
Looking to purchase a manual 2001+ wagon, under 60K miles. Have been looking at several models: A4 Avant 1.8T, A4 3.0 Avant, A6 or an Allroad.

Coming over from the subie world and have been driving a wrx for 5+ years.
Love the 250+ hp turbo engine, but with the growing family I need a bigger car. I might do a few mods as I did with the wrx. Possibly exhaust and ecu, but not much more. I've always loved German cars, and now I think it's time for my first Audi.

Any suggestions on which model might be better for me? I'm a "spirited" driver (when kids aren't in the car of course), and certainly enjoy a faster, well handling auto. But at the same time I will have 2 car seats and a dog in the back. This will be my daily driver.

Please share any thoughts you might have on my research. Would the A4 1.8T with only 170hp be disappointing? Should I stay away form the 3.0 engine in the 2002 A4? After reading the "Anybody in Lancaster" post, I'm not sure if I want to deal with all those problems.

Thanks, and glad to be here.
