She did, thank you everyone.

I sent the check back to the lady, and said the only way she's getting my car is if she wires me the money.

So what happened? Is the deal off, or she transferred the money??

I suspect the deal is off.

Did she not offer to pay you more than it was worth? Are you leaving out any info? Because this scam is all too popular... the one where they want the car shipped, so will pay you much more than the car is worth.

AWDaholic: If the buyers' being cool, then she should have no problem with waiting until teh funds "clear" and are deposited in your account.
+1 to that. This type of scam is known by now, as it's happened quite a few times. It's likely that a legitimate buyer issuing the check is going to expect that you will wait until the funds are fully cleared, and won't have a problem with waiting for the car until said time is reached. If it's not legit, the buyer may well be pushing you to get the car before the scam is uncovered. I'd read their attitudes closely, and I'd assume you've already googled the company's name. I'd also ask CitiBank to verify that the company is in fact a legitimate client. When I sold the twin-turbo engine from my Z, the guy who bought it had a bank check issued to me, and sent it ahead of time by a week, because even though it was a bank check, it still had a 5 day clear time. I asked my bank why that was, and was told that now, people are even creating forged bank checks, so a "certified bank check" may not in fact be real.

If you have the check...take it to your bank and "deposit it"....wait the 3-5 days for the check to possibly clear....If the check clears, withdraw the $ and send your car...

if the check doesn't clear, then the deal is obviously off...

gl!
