n00b car stereo question.
Hey guys, I don't know jackshit about car stereo, so I'm sure some of you are going to laugh. But anyway, I really like to looks of the OEM headunit, and I was wondering if it's possible to run more powerful speakers and subs by using an amp or a combination of amps without having to replace the Bose OEM headunit in my A4. I don't want a banging stereo or anything, but I definately want a crisper sound and some more bass then the stock setup.
Maybe if you guys could point me towards a car stereo FAQ or something, it would be greatly appriciated.

yeah Im in the same boat, except I have the concert audi. Im currently looking for speakers to upgrade too but alot of aftermarket speakers are 4 ohm and stock are 2ohm I thnk. With the stock headunit I think will create issues but then again I dont know much about audio specs.

RE: n00b car stereo question.
I'm not 100 percent but this might help, from what i hear you should only have problems with the bose system. If you dont have a bose system you should be able to just cut in the aftermarket speakers just like any other car. If you have the bose, I hear you need to cut out the factory amp, then you'll be able to put the aftermarket speakers in .

But then again what about the amplifiers on my rear deck speakers? From what I have heard you have to kill the factory speaker, and take off the amp and install it on the new speaker. The only reason why I havent done this yet is I dont know how aftermarket sound imaging is compared to stock (which is decent for my needs). I have a powered sub I can install and hideaway without loosing trunk space, but I want the"decent enough" speakers to be "good"speakers.
