i have a friend that has open fields. im looking to shoot stuff at a range of 1000 yards plus, and 3k for an AI? seems alot,but worth it with their reputation. i talked to members on snipershide.com, they said a rem 700 .308 can reach 1k yards. and its a great starter rifle from being an upgrade from a .22

 

i listened to the people of snipershide.com and went with the rem 700 .308. also look at snipercentral forums. they have some great info

 

.30-06 for the win.

 

one member on snipershide told me to get a 30-06 700, because side by side a .308 and an 06 will both shoot 1k yards, but when im ready, a 06 will be able to hit 1500. ill be looking around still for them, im on a tight budget lol, my jeep wants to keep breaking, and im running out of duct tape...

 

ya either cal will be fine. i went with the .308 because my scope has a bdc built in for the .308 not 30-06. i have shot both plenty of times and they are almost the same.
