S4 Brake Upgrade
Ok, everyone I need your assistance. I had a feeling that my rotors and pads were just about shot, so when I had my car at the dealership for its 70K oil change I had them check the brakes and I was right it is almost time for new ones. I do not want to spend a bunch of money, but I want to improve my brakes,so here is what I am thinking.
1. If Ido an B5 S4 brake upgrade,do I need to purchase both the front and the rear calipers or can I get away with just the fronts and then pick which pads and rotors I want to use? I would most likely use aftermarket drilled rotors like the ones that Zimmerman has and Hawk Performance Pads.
2. Or should I Just keep my current calipers and do a rotor and pad upgrade? I would use the same pads and rotors listed above.
What does everyone think?

prolly best bang for the buck to go w/ the S4 upgrade...
if youre not tracking the car though - Id just go w/ some aftermarket rotors / pads...
u should post this in the A4 section though..

I'm actually seriously considering the S4 brakes for my car, because it's a good deal cheaper than getting a big brake kit. And as far as not needing better brakes if you're not track racing your car, you should seriously consider it if you're going to be making the car faster.
I have the s4 set up with zimmermans rotors and MTX pads. I like the braking a lot and imagine with less wieght it will brake better than I am now. As for improvements in braking ability were minor. The problem you will run into is finding the rear for your s4 kit. They no longer make any that fit on my a6 but a4 maybe. I actually have a set of rear rotors I can't use. So PM and I will get you the part number.
Unless your tracking the car it is a waste of money for the big brakes. I track my car and I am fine with what I have.
My two cents is upgrade your stock rotors and pads and you will see a difference.

2. the B5 s4 brakes are cheap rite now i think, u cant get a used set for well under 500 i think
they are v2 piston brakes which means they have two pistons on one side of the caliper and arent floating rotors, they arent great but they will offer better stoping then the crappy A4 brakes
you can also go wit the B6/B7 S4s which have a huge rotor and a huge single caliper, they look good casue they fill the wheels up nicely 345mm rotors[:-]
also befor u upgrade ur calipers and rotors make sure they CLEAR YOUR CURRENT WHEELS
