The police or dvla (in uk) can trace your whole life from your number plate.if one of these is bent then anyone can
get your address,etc and if someone wants to nick a nice modded car then they know where to come,plus if they go back through your posts they could prob find out all they need to know.

it's not about identity theft at all. you have nothing to worry about with regards to that. it's about advertising your mods on a website that can be viewed by ANYONE. there are all kinds of people looking to steal what you might have on your car. this is an automotive enthusiast forum. most of the cars on this forum are modified. ALSO, most heavily modified car owners tend to be members of clubs/forums because they're enthusiasts. so this is an excellent place to find parts/cars to steal.
