Default 2000 S4 worth it?

There is a 2000 S4 6 speed for sale that has a salvage title. It was minor bumper damage that gave it the salvage title. There was no frame damage at all and the car has 96k miles on it and interior and everything looks great. It has an aftermarket replacement bumper now and needs some minor things done to it. Do you guys think this is worth 4k?

well in order for a car to receive a salvage title the cost to repair the vehicle has to equal or exceed 50 percent of what it was worth at the time of the accident. so whatever the fender bender was it was severe enough to receive a salvage title. honestly i would drive the car make sure it runs ok the suspension feels good and there arent any major noises. i would try and talk him down a little bit. and i would also get the paperwork from the body shop that worked on the car to see exactly what was replaced.

Well, I've seen it happen before where a car gets to a certain age and they salvage it at any damage. But yeah I get what you say. I don't think the current owner is the one that got it repaired, I'll have to see if he has the info from the previous owner.

Yeah....I'd love to pick it up. But I may just stick with an A4, or there is a 2.7T A6 available locally. The S4 has always been what I wanted though....

Hah....I have a 99 A4 1.8T that has a bent valve from the timing belt being loose. I won it on ebay for 1k bucks..... I still have to get it shipped here but still crazy cheap and shouldn't be horrible to fix. But I'm still on the lookout. Basically I could build the A4 or buy an S4 or something with the 2.7T. I was thinking about doing a VR6 swap on the A4 but then started looking at other cars again....just don't know where I want to go here.
