2000 S6 long mileage..
Hey.
Iīve been looking at cars for a while now, found a 2000 S6 thatīs a bit dented, but owner says technically itīs 100%. it has 240000km (142000miles) on it. Two older men have driven it, I donīt think itīs been driven recklessly.
Does anyone in here drive a S6 with that kind of mileage? My initial concern is the Tiptronic transmission... But since it has been serviced correctly by Audi, I suppose the tiptronic oil has been changed like it should.
any thoughts?

Does no one have any input for me here?
I`m getting the S6 for a low price, but I want to know not to worry too much
Any S8 or A6/A8 V8 drivers here with some mileage?
I don`t have that much knowledge on these enginges/transmissions.
Would be cool if somebody had some input for me..

Sorry about the lack of feedback. Audi only sold the S6 as an Avant in the US which wasnt very popular. If it was available as a sedan with a manual transmission as it was in Europe it probably would have been VERY popular. Also most of us have S4's in here..
From what i understand the s6 switched to a newer motor in 2000, though still 4.2l. The audi 4.2 V8 has been very popular in alot of cars (A6, Allroad, A8, S8, S6, S4) because it is a tough and relyable motor. With 142,000 miles i really dont know what speciffic problems those cars tend to have, but i would assume the motor and transmission would be allright. YOu may want to check the A6 subforum, they may be helpfull as they share the same c5 platform.
Gas mileage probably wont be very good. I know the V8 S4's is pretty sad
I see youve owned both UrS4 and UrS6, those are awsome cars.
The S6 plus would also be very tempting for me!

i have driven a 02 S6 i love the car i have also driven a S4 with the 4.2 im pretty shure the engines are a little different but it seems like the engine would be very robust .. like hp addict said they have put it in lots of cars as far as service or parts i really cant say there are a few people with the engine in the allroad forum for shure
Thanks guys.
I suspect it`s a sturdy peace of machinery. I know there is a guy in my Norwegian Audi/vw club that has a S8 with 322000km. Tried to reach him, but he has`nt replied yet.
The engine is one thing, but what about the Tip gearbox..`? I know they`re reinforced more than those on the smaller engines, but those are`nt really safe as the bank..
Got a buyer for my B6 A4, so I`m trying to decide what to do IF it`s sold next week.
The Allroad v8 never was sold here, guess there were a few in Germay, but i think it was "ment" for the US market. There are a few A6 v8s for sale here, but I want the S...
