Default 2004 S4 Cam Adjuster Not Working

I have a 2004 Audi S4 that had the check engine light come on
and it started running a little rough, I took it into an independent
service shop and they diagnosed the problem as the Bank 2
CAM Adjuster not adjusting the CAM. They found that the Adjuster
is switching electrically but is not responding. They say they
need to pull the engine completely to remove the timing covers to
get to the Bank 2 Adjuster to replace it. They indicate that this
will run about $4,900 . I want to know if this sounds like a reasonable
cost for this amount of work and if anyone has had a similar issue to
this or experience with service where they had to completely remove
the engine. Also, would you trust an independent service provider for this
or would you let an Audi dealer do the service work.

The engine codes are:

16405 P0021 008
A Camshaft Position (Bank2)
Timing over-advanced or System Performance

16684 P0300 008
Random/Multiple Cylinder

Sporadic

16689 P0305 008

16690 P0306 008

Thanks for any help!

well they are definitely on the same bank, and the cam adjuster not working could be the cause.. im not completely sure how it works in the 4.2 S4.. but with nissans if the oil level got too low, it would set codes and cause the adjuster not to work properly. im not sure if this is the case with audis or not.. both hondas and nissans used oil pressure to work the variable camshaft timing and such.. not sure on these audis..
