Default Anyone replaced head unit on B7 S4?

I posted earlier that I replaced everything but my Bose head unit and the resulting sound is pretty bad. I did use a "cleansweep" type component but it did not overcome the hissing and weird signal coming out of the head unit. My question to the group is if anyone has successfully replaced their head unit. I want Nav, XM, etc. Also, I'd like to retain the steering-wheel controls and 6-CD changer in the glovebox. I see thatPioneer has something close but not sure if it will fit. It says it's 7" but the space is 9" wide. Any suggestions?

Is there something different with the B5 bose system and the B7..? When I was looking for my B5 there was a dude that had the stock system with JBL speakers in the doors and an aftermarket amp driving them. No hissing...?

That is why I said in the previous posting, to check around other audio shops, or even call around, explain your situation and ask if they have experienced it or know the resolution.

Good Luck.

Why not just get the factory Nav+ system for your car?

The factory system is what I have. Bose is not great if you like it loud, so I put in new speakers and amps. Now the system sounds great when played loud, but at lower volumes there is an audible hiss and one of the speakers "chitters." I've been told that the issue is the Bose head unit cannot be overridden in terms of a signal that it puts out. I've heard that this issue is fairly common but I haven't seen answers other than "replace everything." I'm still researching alternatives and this post was to solicit input from others that have been through this.
