Default B6 S4 Clutch Problem

Yesterday my clutch did something pretty strange. I was shifting between 3rd and 4th, at about 4000 rpm, I let the clutch out, but the pedal stayed on the floor, the engine rpms shot up pretty fast (because I was applying gas)...then the clutch pedal release, the clutch engaged...really strange.

This only happened once, the clutch seems fine now. I did get a fair amount of clutch burn (oh that wonderful smell). Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this type of situation, or anything similar. I'm going to take it into the dealer next week, just to have it checked out. But I am guessing that if it can't be demonstrated again, they will probably think I missed a shift.

I did work on an S4 that had that problem

The only difference is that it happened everytime

When dissasembling i found that the boot on the slave was melted and that only about half of the flywheel and pressure plate were being used

You could have some debri on your guide sleeve for the throwout bearing

AudiTech,

Thanks for the info...I have not noticed any slip/or other problems since that one incident, but I may take it in to the dealer and inquire about the boot on the slave.

Happy New Year!
