Brand new S4 needs engine replaced - how much should I worry?
I ordered a new 2013 S4 2 months ago. It was a swap with another dealer 150 miles away. My dealer called me today with the bad news that during delivery of my vehicle, about 30 miles into the trip, the engine seized and the car had to be hauled back to the dealer.
Audi has said they would not even try to fix the engine and instead will do a total engine replacement. My dealer offered to look for another car but I know the likelihood of finding one with the same options anytime soon is slim given it took some time to find this one. So I told him I would wait for the new engine and take my original car. Am I making a mistake? Is this car destined to be cursed?
This will be my third Audi and I have been generally pleased with my dealings with Audi. My 2000 TT has held up very well but my 1999 A4 was somewhat problematic.
