Default bring on the flames!!!

okay ive searched high and low all over the net, i know that blow of valves are a total NO on Audis, i even read the "no more bov threads" parked thing. the alternative to a bov is a hybrid like a forge spliitter. every review i've read has no problems, no cels, nada, seems legit but theres still the fact that you're not letting the air recirculate like the audi engineers designed. according to all websites ive read, they say that the S4 requires 2 splitter valves, no shiz, theres 2 turbos on the car. however my question is, what if you just buy one? you have one hybrid and one regular DV, yes it'd look stupid having two different valves but you get the pssh sound that everyone likes and you're still dumping the majority of the air back into the system since you're still using 1 regular DV and the hybrid claims to dump 70% back into the system so really you're only losing like 15% of the air. am i just crazy or am i on to something. and please no stupid backfire comments on "oh you'll **** up your shiz or BOVs are for ricers or that sound is annoying" blah blah blah, its not going to help. i like the sound, i dig it. makes me happy, i like the attention, maybe ill put a big nos sticker on my windshield while im at it

I've got something for you to try before you buy a BOV.

Using your existing dvs, leave one normal and disconnect the other from the top at the vent to the y-pipe and let it vent to atmosphere.

Be sure to plug the open hole in the y-pipe connector.

This should be similar to what you are saying. But, I still don't think it will work. But it's worth a shot I guess.

Maybe if you did this and made a balance tube that went from both of the plastic charge tubes it could work, idk...

Don't do the NOS sticker though

Haha great OP.

I wouldnt buy just one, but thats me. I dont really have any reasoning. When the throttle closes the DV's open and let the charge pressure in the bipipe recirculate back to the turbos. The bipipe joins in the throttle body boot before the throttle plate so the pressure from both turbos should equalize there. I dont know if having one DV and one BOV would let most of the pressure dump to the atmosphere because thats the path of least resistance or if it would split evenly. I think it all depends on the specific valves and how fast they work. For instance a Forge 007 is definitly better and faster than a 710n, but is say a HKS SSQV faster than a forge 007? I dont know.

Basically if you want to get them go for it. I thought about it but $500 for 2 valves that make some sound might be a bit much. I do like the sound though. Its not going to make your car explode, but it is going to lead to the premature failure sensors, maybe 10k miles, maybe 6 months, again i dont know. Its not really somehting you can quantify. You wont get any CEL's untill your primary O2's or EGT's **** the bed because the BOV makes you run rich. Think of it like chipping your car if you want, its all good fun, but running more boost is going to make your turbos blow sooner.

i always liked the lack of the blow off sound. thats why this car is a sleeper, most dont realize it is a turbo, let alone a bi-turbo....

Let me know if you do it and it works out cause I love the BOV sound. But I don't feel like spending $500 on two..

yea i didnt want to buy 2 because of the price. they're only about 150 now but thats still 300. my primary o2 sensors and egt sensors are in the mail cuz they needed to be replaced anyway and my turbos are going to be replaced hopefully within the next week. depending on how things work out with that will determine if i get the valves or not. if not im selling the car cuz i dont want to have to deal with bad turbos i cant afford to fix
