So I took off my front bumper on my B5 S4 to paint it and I put it back on now the one side does not fit very well, I mean its not a huge gap but its huge for an audi body gap! Does anyone know how to maybe modify the housing or the brackets so the bumper fits more snug?

unless the guides on the sides are broken you should be able to get that side to fit. its a real bitch to get the bumper on properly. i've had the drivers side corner slightly popped out for a while now.

 

I had the same problem when I got mine. The previous owner tapped a pole or something and popped the ends out. I quite literally screwed the ends into the fender drilled a slightly smaller hole than the screw would fit and used a bit of brute force and ignorance. Came out extremely well believe it or not. Just watch the angle. A good last resort.
