Clutch
You can upgrade you're fly wheel. But it also depends on your driving habits. If you ride the clutch then obviously it won't last long due to you holding the clutch pedal down, causing the clutch to spin against the fly wheel and wear down the clutch.
Aftermarket clutches are made of different materials than the stock clutch but you can't blame the clutch for your driving habits.

i hate to agree with "enviedA6" ... but it sounds like driving habits or poor installation caused it to burn out quickly... 40k is not bad if you are extremely rough on the clutch. I've heard of worse...
Thanks for the response, letr's see I had them install an AWE lightweight aluminum flywheel and an AWE stage III clutch kit, never tracked thge car and 90% of the time i am either in rush hour never out of first gear or the freeway is moving and i am in 5th or 6th geari maybe raced a dozen people from a light and never really shifted above 5000 rpm. usually in the 4k range. So maybe it is my driving style but it just seems like I am getting hosed. I talked to Buddha last night and he feels like I do that the whole operation is shady. This guy had my car for 5 months to reabout 8 months ago and installed a rebuilt tranny, flywheel, clutch and short shifter.now it's back in his shop and he wants another 2500 dollars to put in a stock clutch and stock flywheel cause mine is disentigrated. it just dosen't seem right.
I can absolutly see how you feel that way, but as envied a6 said these stage 2 and stage 3 clutches are made from completely different materials that arent designed for durability. They are designed for maximum grab at any ONE instant, on the awe website it says "For drivers who regularly use their 2.7T at the drag strip or road course and need a clutch that can handle the stresses of a standing start dump". If that rush hour traffic has alot of stop and go youre going to wear that clutch down quickly. Especially with a very fast enganement clutch like this.
My stock clutch has lasted me about 60k miles of hard driving, if my next clutch lasts 40k miles, i probably wont be too dissappointed. No one ever said this was an inexpensive car. Good luck
