coolant hose woes!!

Default coolant hose woes!!

i have a b5 s4 and i need to know where the little hose directlyat the bottom to the coolant resivor goes. it looks like it should go into a overflow tankor somthing? any pics would be great.
mine appears to be cut and just drips onto my trans and messes with the multifunction swich and automatically puts it into limp mode. IT sucks [:@].

really, out of this many ppl not one personknows where this little hose goes! i need to get my car back. its bugging the crap out of me and trust me ive searched for a cooling system diagram and didnt even see it on there?

that is where it goes I looked on my car to make sure I knew what you are talking about. Just move it so it goes some where else if it has too. as for it dripping you may have it over full that is why it drips cause mine does not at all.

If it's continually dripping, something else is prolly wrong. The tube you're speaking of is just overflow and is there to give the coolant a place to go if it boils or if it's overfilled. Is your coolant/water mixture ratio correct? It could be boiling over. Water boils at 212 F and it's not uncommon for the 2.7 to sit between 225-250 F, especially in hot weather. If you're coolant/water mixture is far enough off, it might not be raising the boiling temperature high enough.

yes that sounds like it could be the cause i have only been adding water. ill do a flush and im going to get a new cap too because there only 5 bucks from ecstuning.com.

pretty old system if its like that the newer cars have a header flow and return and no overflow pipe ( the coolant cap is the trigger to release pressure )
