Default A couple questions

1) Do you know if the volkswagen remote keys will work on our cars?
2) i am looking for some guys/gals with boost gauges other than APR or AWE (i.e. EVIL, osiris, etc.) and mount them into the air duct and how well those gauges work. also wondering if anyone has made there own air duct with the boost gauge.
3) has anyone done the piggy pipes with a custom exhaust. i am picking up my pipes today and later have an exhaust specialist make a straight pipe for the rest of the exhaust. (was wondering how it sounds/performance gains)
4)cant seem to find the GIAC X chip anywhere. are there different GIAC chips? what does the X stand for?
5) how much does it cost to replace the front windshield? ( i have a couple spider cracks, need to know for future reference)
6)i have a screwed up drivers side intercooler and may upgrade. is it worth it to get the RS4 ICs or just by one single stock s4 IC?

Default RE: A couple questions

1. Nope
2. Yup, they work just like the AWE one. All you need is a dremal tool & some time, to make your own vent gauge.
3. Yup, it is STUPID loud & will drone really bad, you will gain some HP
4. Any GIAC dealer can do the X chip, it's just the newest code. got to GIAC.com & see who is local to you.
5. $650 for a OEM one.
6. Yup, but more so if you have other mods. AWE's & ER's are much better then RS4's, really not much more $$.

I forgot to add, i will also be buying a resonator to cut down on the noise. do you think that will be enough to keep it from being obnoxiously loud?
My mods will be the piggy pipes, straight pipe, GIAC chip, boost controller: are those mods enough to get the upgraded ICs or should i just keep it stock?
thanks 2k for the advice

if the plan is to go to K04 or larger turbos then I would recommend larger/aftermarket intercoolers...

If you have the money and need new ones any who. I would just get the upgraded why spend the money twice if you will jsut do it later. As for if you need it right now with those mods, not really but i will wont hurt you also to have your car run cooler. Oh and one great thing I jsut did to my car to help clean it up cause of all the miles get some seaFoam and use it in the intake. It smokes out all the bees you have in the area but helps the car alot too.
here is a link to help

Yup, it will still be stupid loud. Do a little search & get the sound clip of the AWE Twin I, it will be much louder then that.

With a K03 car, there is really no more performance from a straight through exhaust to a quality aftermarket one.

You will also need to upgrade diverter valves (probably) if you havent already. 710N's will do fine, it's what I need next also. Ohh, and the TBB

I say screw the new tbb and just get a bipipe, little more work but you dont ever have to worry again.

Default RE: A couple questions

well i already the 710Ns and the TBB was replaced not too long ago, when that goes I will go with the bipipe. And I am going with the straight pipe and resonator over an aftermarket exhaust because of the cost. I really like the ASP exhaust but dont feel like spending a thousand on a piece of metal as opposed to a exhaust specialist making a custom exhaust for 200 bucks. If the resonator wont be enough to suppress the loudness then I will go get a cheap magnaflow muffler which will work just as well.
