anyone know the procedure for getting a scanner to detect a new ecu? i got one online at junkyard, but my scanner which is a modis does not detect it.

 

a regular OBD II scanner work on the car. You have to use a vagcom.

 

have a modis scanner. but it is not detecting the ecu i got offline from junkyard. it does detect the old ecu. i get fuel with new ecu, but not with the old one. problem now is no spark. so i am wondering if i got to have the ecu reflashed.
