well.. i guess thats just personal perferance... Both are sort of maintanence upgrades. A boost gauge is kind of neat to see what kind of boost youre running and be able to diagnose any problems.. An upgrade diverter vlave can save you the problem from your OEM one to fail later.

Alright well I'd love to do the install myself, however being at school and a lonngg way from home it would be difficult for me to get the tools of the trade in order to properly do any installs. I am also not the most mechanically or technically suave person. I'll check out some DIY pages and see if it is feasable. On a side note...did any of you mention DV's before gauge or gauge before DV's?

Chip and DV's
or
Chip and Boost Gauge

which one fellas?

The boost gauge I could see not installing, but he DV's are so easy, you only need like a flat head screw driver and some muscle.

I would say get DV's and boost gauge, get your car properly setup up for performance mods, whether it be reliability or monitoring the performance, get all that little stuff out of the way. If you can, try to get a new Throttle body boot since you'll be near there (not hard to do either).

The DV's take a screwdriver....the TBB takes a screwdriver, allen and wrench. Start building your tool collection.

you can definitely save a lot of money by installing the boost guage and dv's on your own and you will be able to purchase both without having to decide on which one to buy first....the dv's may take you 10 minutes and the boost gauge around an hour depending on your skills...just find a DIY write up, make sure you have the tools at hand, and take your time....i did both as soon as i purchased my s4...like it was mentioned b4, it will help you learn and understand your ride....good luck
