Gutting Pre-cats
So I'm about to go gut my pre-cats later tonight or tomorrow. Anyone have any tips that would make it easier on me? I've heard its a real PITA just getting them up outta there. Especially without a lift.
Am I going to be making a mistake by doing this in my garage with jackstands and a couple jacks?
BTW, I'm not a newb to these cars so far.

YES!!!! i honestly dont think that you can get them out that way.. i had a rack and they where still hard to get out... you have to twist and turn them funny.. ive been a technician for 13 yrs or so (im 30) and these where the hardest ever to get out.. then they arent super easy beating out the catalyst... if you want i can sell you my old ones.. ive got 3" dps.. so i have no need for mine.. still gonna be hard getting yours out on the ground like that..
I've removed them without a lift, It definitely sucks but it can be done. The hardest part is the heat shields covering the turbo's. I cut mine right off and used a ratcheting 17mm open end to take off the top nuts from behind the fire wall.
To gut them i recommend a bench vise, air chisel, and to finish em up use a ball hone to get that nice finish inside.
