I have a problem with my EGT sensor on my 99 S4, I had a fault code = Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor 1 17862 - P1454 (short circuit to ground)

I looked on the net and found it was a Sensor G235 (LHS Temp sensor), I managed to get a G235 sensor for an S3 but when fitting it noticed that the sensor was shorter than the 1 in the S4. I fitted the sensor anyway cause I was told it would work the same but it made no difference. Now can anyone tell me if the length of the sensor makes any difference to the readings???
