i hate cops that think they are the shizit!!!!
No what he did was illegal, I'm a cop and you most definately have to haveYOUR consent to search or probable cause, which having window tint to dark is'nt probable cause. You should look up the traffic code RCW book for your state, it will let you everything you need to know. But I would definately do somthing about that cop, what he did was wrong and he should get away with that ****.
I've always found that local police have the worst respect for kids or younger adults. And the sheriff and state police are usually more polite and respectable. I was pulled over before and asked to take a breathalizer test at 3am. I KNOW I wasn't swerving or doing any suspicious driving. He didn't even have a chance to see me drive more than ten feet before I had to stop at a red light. His excuse was that there was a complaint from someone that a white car left a party and did some illegal stuff. I didn't believe one word of it because of their unpolite attitude. And I'm a really nice guy when it comes to dealing with cops. Thats my story about police, but it does sound like that officer should have asked for permission before searching your car. Like Reiem125 said, I would try and do something about that officer.

There was no probable cause. I'd file a complaint. The ticket number will be linked to the officer who wrote it. He will then be questioned about the incident and probably name his buddy. Then their commander will have to decide what their punishment is. It could be a loss of pay, additional duties, unwanted shifts, desk work for a while..
I'd file a complaint for that. I'm really laid back too, but I won't let someone violate my rights when I'm not in the wrong.
And as for the thing about searching the car and saying stop. They would find the drugs in the glovebox and it would be their word vs. yours that you said stop the search. So you'd probably lose on that one.
I have nothing against honest cops. Hell I work for the cops... But I don't stand for an abuse of authority.
