well ... the turbos are parallel not sequential. its one turbo for each bank. so not sure what your saying (or feeling) when you say the second turbo kicks in. Looks as though your getting good vaccuum (20 inches mercury) but if your not going above 0 youre not getting any boost... not a good thing.

Yeah I know it's sequential, but it should have more pull at those lower rpm's. When he let me drive the car I put full throttle at around 2 grand in first and it lagged pretty damn good, nothing kicked in until around 4000-4500 rpm. It just felt like it was running on the motor.

hah..nope theyre NOT sequential. they run parallel. But youre right, your peak torque is at about 1800 rpm. clearly somethings going haywire in there.

Wait... I thoguht sequential meant u have one big turbo and one small (which I know it is), and ... well I guess it is parallel, too. Wait, so what does sequential refer to?

well sequential means one turbo spools the first portion of the power band, then the second (usually bigger turbo) will spool the higher top end. The s4 has two identical turbos that spool each (their own) bank simaltaneously.

alright.. picture it like two seperate sides of the engine. its a v6.. so the engine has two different banks.. each turbo runs on one bank. and they run at the same rate or in parallel with each other. So one doesnt spool before the other.. both at the same time.

as far as pulling out the engine through the front..i honestly dont know.. i would say no.. but i really dont know.

yes, you pull the front rad support off and the motor comes right out, 2-3 days work.

i bet your turbos are fine. Something else wrong here. do a pressure test to see if you have any leaks.

try putting in an MBC to see if its your N75 thats faulty. Run Vag-Com to see if you have any DTC codes.

check your diverter valves and if your a 2000 or 2001, check your f-hose.

the problem came down to the hose connected to the diverter valve. it was connected with a bad clamp. but all i have to do is figure out to pull the engine. are you sure i can just do it from the front?? and what would be the steps to do so?
