I ended up in the extremely lucky position of being given a car by my work...and I've been eyeing the S4 for quite some time now, so that's what I'm going with, and I have a few questions for you guys. My cars have all been automatic...I've driven friends' cars with manual a few times, but don't have much experience...I'd like to go with the 6-speed but I'm wondering how much abuse the clutch can take from a new stick driver. I don't want to have to replace the clutch in a couple months, as I hear it's not under warranty and can be quite expensive. I also don't have another car to practice on, unfortunately, so what do you think? Also, what should I do to break in the new S4?

 

Don't worry about it. After a day or two, you'll be driving stick like a pro. You aren't going to kill it.

 

it will be fine. You would need to drive it bad for a couple months before u would need a new clutch, It will become second nature to u in a week or two.

Just buy the 6MT, you won't regret it.

The Tip has too much Drive Line loss and is noticeably quicker.

My Tips going back this week for a 6mt !!!

I've driven sticks all my life and this was the first Tip for me.
First and last, until the new DSG's are on the B8's.

after some pratice ull be fine. If the price is right, go for it. dont hold back bc its a manual
