Looks good man. Glad to hear there are a couple of other garage weekend warriors here. Seems like everyone has access to a lift and a shop. Me, just like you and ern mentioned, jackstands and crane from advance auto

I'll be taking the DIY K04 plunge in the near future, I'll have some questions for you

Well right now the motor is out just chilling, need to figure out my transmission rebuild. Im going on vacation in august so ill probably put it back together the last couple weeks of august.

As for resources i used, i found an official AUDI motor pull video, used M3toS4's writeup on audizine, found another write up, and a word document writeup with pictures. That was more than enough to get it out, it was all pretty straight forward. I can dig up the links if anyone is interested in bookmarking them for future use. We really took our time and labeled everything. The use of air tools made things so fast. I feel like if i do it 2 more times ill be able to do it in half the time or less.

We seriously took our time, lots and lots of breaks to chat with people stopping by. Checking and rechecking the guides. My buddy smoking cigarettes, getting coffee... Now i feel like i could just do one thing after another... I had some issues getting the transmission past the CV's, the tranny mounts were getting hung up on them, definitly the hardest part for me, ended up taking the transmission mounts off as we pulled it out a couple inches. You also avoided the trouble of unhooking the slave...

Thx for the links. They'll come in handy.

Are you doing the tranny rebuild yourself? Or are you taking the kit + tranny to a shop?
