New S4 - upgrading questions
Hello all,
I am new here, just bought a 2001 B5 S4 with 48k in miles, but before I get flamed for asking any noob questions rest assured I have searched all over this board and elsewhere trying to answer my own quesitons, I hope none of the questions that I do ask insult your intelligence and if they do I am sorry. Now, that being said, I am bringing my car into the shop to have it chipped (APR ECU), I also will be replacing the DV's and most likely the TBB (possibly with apr bi-pipe). I also will be looking into a turbo timing system, or something of the sort to make my life just a bit easier as far as waiting for the turbos to cool (any suggestions here are much appreciated). So what I really want to know is this, I want to know where I can find some good documentation on the S4 bi-turbo system so I can research just how that system works. I would like to get a bit of insight so I can start doing the proper upgrades and maintenance, vs just doing something that others have told me. I have had only marginal luck finding any site or area that gives a good breakdown of the system, somewhat like a manual explaining just how the bi-turbos function, how oil temp affects life, turbo lag (which I know is minimal in the S4), etc...

Also any recommendations for future upgrades (save the K04 kit, as I will be doing that when the stock turbos go) would be appreciated. My goal is to make the car as quick and comfortable as possible without making it a rice rocket....I hate rice.

sorry. Yesterday I got the APR ECMS system with stock and chipped settings, and replaced the Diverters with Stratmosphere DV's. I do have 1 question though. Many people talk about the TBB being unreliable. What do you think about me getting an APR bi-pipe to remedy that??

Bi pipe or save money and get hte Samce TBB, much stronger than stock, and will work jsut as well sa the bipipe. There have been a *few* (not very many at all) of stage 3 cars popping the samco tbb off, but all they had to do was screw the clamps back on and it was all good.
