Default Oil Burning Smell

I have a B5 S4. I accidently overfilled it by about half of a quart. It doesn't leak any on the ground and there's no blue smoke from exhaust. So I'm pretty sure it's not leaking so my question is can overfilling a somewhat small amount make an oil burning smell?

Thanks for any input you may have!

I dont think so.

The reason I think this is because overfilling the oil and the oil burning smell becoming present happened to people on an infiniti forum and subaru forum that I googled. But they are Japanese car driving people and im not sure if they know what they are talking about. Because they never stated how or why overfilling creates the smell.

Also this smell just started after I overfilled it too. So Im going to take some oil out tomorrow to see if this works unless someone tells me it could be something else. But if there are no leaks on the ground then what else could it be?

Thanks for responding!

Ok I think it is coincidence your smelling this right after.

If I had to guess your issue, it would be your valve cover(s).

Over filling 1/2 qt won't hurt anything

Over filling more than 1 qt can lead to leaky seals anywhere in the engine.

Did it just get warm/cold enough to turn on ac/heat? That could also be why your smelling stuff

Thanks for the reply! But why is it not leaking on the ground? If it is the valve cover gaskets how much do you think it would be for an Audi shop to replace them?

Also I don't smell it in the cabin (from the heater or ac). I smell it when I get out of the car. It's not strong. Sometimes you have to put your nose right by the grill to smell it.
