Default oil leak

hi all,

im having oil leak problem, most of the time i smell some burning oil cold start in the morning, also sometimes in slow traffic. I was told that the valve cover gaskets need to be changed, i dont think i will have problem changing the valve cover gaskets. However the guy from Miramar Audisuggested me that i should change the cam tensioner gasket as well since they go bad easily. So i did some research on this matter, and i couldn't really find the answer, some say it's not that difficult to do some say it requires special tool to complete this job. Is there really a DIY article that i can follow with?
If i need a special tool, where can i get it?
This is the only article i found, it is not specified with S4 but a 2.8L and the step-by-step procdure is not very detail and clear.

thanks

I pulled and installed the cams without the tool but you have a great risk of damaging the bearing surfaces of the cams and possibly wrecking the chain if not carefully done. Also there are many sharp edges to cut yourself on if you are fighting the spring pressure of the adjuster/tensioner. You just have to be clever and resourceful and you could do it without, however if the tool is cheap buy it. I never even checked I just did it. The 2.8 head is basically the same. good luck

so you just pull up the chain for the clearance to take out the old cam tensioner seal and put in the new one?!

I did it to pull the intake cam out not the adjuster gasket but You may have enough room just making slack and sneaking gasket in place. Make sure surfaces are clean of course. If you don't have enough room just pull the intake cam up and out of the head and you will then have the room you need. It is a bitch but can be done. The chain slack is definately neccasary.
